Doves
Sumter County, AL has a tri season for doves. Our 2008 Opening Day Hunt was a success. DECEMBER 13TH IS OUR FINAL 2008 HUNT. The action packed hunt and Southern hospitality has led to many repeat guests over the years. David Rainer, outdoors editor of the Mobile Register, wrote in 2004, "Last year I was lucky enough to be at the Dials for the best dove hunt I'd been on in 20 years."
Hunts are afternoons only. If you have a group of 15 or more, you can reserve a private field. Dove hunts include a large Southern lunch served in our 60' X 120' shed. The shed is equipped with picnic tables and restrooms.
Over 200 acres of crops, spread over 12 fields, are planted for doves. We plant wheat, brown top millet and pro sol millet. Wheat will also be fed. All Alabama Department of Conservation regulations are followed.
For opening day, full payment (nonrefundable) is required to make your reservation. Once your deposit is received, your name will be added to the list. Book early, because the fall hunts fill up fast. All hunters and their guests need to sign an insurance liability release. Each hunter is responsible for valid hunting license and bag limits.
Ducks
The Triple D has over 20 catfish and 6 bass lakes, which makes it a natural choice for migratory ducks. For 2008, there are over 2,000 ducks at one lake alone!! I took these photographs on 12/7/08 as the ducks were leaving the lake for the night. Unbelievable!!! I felt like I was at the airport landing strip when the largest group took off. The sound was incredible.
These ducks have been spotted at the Triple D: hooded merganser, widgeon, wood, gadwall, redhead, teal, pintail, ring-neck, mallard and scaup.
A 6-hunter minimum is needed to book a duck hunt. All hunters and guests need to sign an insurance liability release. Each hunter is responsible for valid hunting license, duck stamps, and bag limits.
